LIVE STREAM: President Donald Trump Speech at USS Gerald Ford in Newport News 3/2/2017 Trump Speech Live

President Donald Trump’s Schedule for Thursday, March 2nd, 2017

Trump to Visit USS Gerald R. Ford in Newport News

President Donald Trump will start his official schedule with his presidential daily briefing before heading on a trip to the Newport News shipyard in Virginia for a tour, briefing, and speech aboard the first of a new line of supercarriers named for former president Gerald Ford.

The Gerald R. Ford (CVN78) is currently a pre-commissioned unit (PCU) and is the first ship in the Gerald R. Ford class.

The ship was originally scheduled to be commissioned in March of 2016, but technical issues have delayed CVN78’s entry into the fleet until sometime in 2017

The new aircraft carrier is fit with a first class radar suite and is the first carrier to feature the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System which replaces steam catapults reducing the space required below deck to store and manage steam. The new catapults also allow the carrier to launch 25% more aircraft in the same amount of time.

The White House has announced that President Donald Trump is scheduled to make a speech on Thursday aboard the newly built aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, which is nearing the completion of systems testing at Newport News.

The announcement of the scheduled stop coincides with news of the president’s plan to raise defense spending by $54 billion while cutting other government programs. Trump has previously spoken in favor of a 350-ship Navy, a number that corresponds with the service’s latest request for a 355-ship fleet, and Trump said in October that “Norfolk Naval Shipyard is [going to get busier] . . . you’re going to be right at the center of the action with the building of new ships

  • Worthless garbage for the ISIS-Supporting terrorist state America.

    • Takeapoke, Your confused… it was Obama and Hitlery who destabilized/sold arms through Syria in the Middle East and created Isis. Get your facts straight you sound like Nancy Pelosi.

      • He wasn’t blaming trump or any single president. He blamed American politicians as a whole whom support the bogus war on terror. Get your facts straight!

  • Carriers were great for WW2, but today with modern missile systems they are little more than sitting ducks. I though the current philosophy was to phase them out for missile cruisers.

  • Trump supports a big military and more nukes, yet gets accused of supporting Russia. Money that could be spent on NASA space exploration and another 6 months of unemployment compensation in this horrible economy. This is the reason I won’t be voting republican in the future. They all support an out of control military, an out of control welfare state or both.

Look at our DOD budget, including the missing $7 trillion, and compare it to all the other industrialised nations. Horrible waste of resources.
