(Before It's News)

SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Campaign for Liberty President John Tate released the following statement applauding the U.S. House of Representatives for passing H.R. 3865, the Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act of 2014 earlier today.

“I am pleased the House today approved legislation temporarily blocking the IRS’ proposed, unconstitutional regulations,” said Tate.

“These new regulations would, among other things, violate the First Amendment rights of groups such as Campaign for Liberty, by limiting their ability to inform their members of legislators’ voting records around an election. This would solely protect elected officials from being held accountable for their actions, while at the same time preventing average Americans from being fully involved in the legislative process.

“I hope the Senate will quickly pass companion legislation so Americans won’t lose their First Amendment rights when they become involved in the legislative process.”

Campaign for Liberty submitted written testimony to the House Ways and Means Committee, which can be found here, in support of H.R. 3865 on February 5, 2014.
