Not that you needed another reason to oppose the so-called “Marketplace Fairness Act” or the Internet Tax Mandate that would force small businesses to collect sales taxes on behalf of over 9,600 tax jurisdictions nationwide. But what about privacy? Under the Internet Tax Mandate, all your online purchases would be stored for audit purposes. Even if you are not purchasing anything having to do with illegal activity, there are plenty of reasons you would want to keep this information private, just like you would want to keep the metadata of your phone records private.

Expect the Marketplace Fairness Act to come up for a vote in the lame-duck session in November and December. SIGN your petition telling your Representatives to OPPOSE the Internet Sales Tax.
