Riots, Clashes In France After Activist Killed By Police. Another anti-police brutality protest turned violent in the French city of Rennes, with masked youths and police engaging in running street battles. The unrest follows the death of a young environmental activist earlier this week.

 

25 Arrested Shutting Down FERC Office in DC. Nearly 100 people from across the country participated in a nonviolent direct action protest this morning shutting down the office of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in Washington, DC. Today’s action was led by some of the Great March for Climate Action marchers who arrived at the nation’s capital on Nov. 1 after a 3,000-mile cross country walk from Los Angeles, California to Washington, DC.

 

Impact Of Protests: Canadian Oil Sands Profits Fall 65%. More evidence that protests, lawsuits and blockades work. The Canadian oil sands are seeing a dramatic decline in profits . . . Canadian Oil Sands (OTCQX:COSWF) reports Q3 net profit fell 65% Y/Y to C$0.18/share, citing lower revenue and foreign exchange-related losses. Q3 sales volume rose to 87,787 bbl/day, up4% Y/Y, but average crude prices fell to C$102.58/bbl from C$112.55 a year earlier, and operating expenses rose to to C$47.73/bbl, up from $46.15.
