(Before It's News)

The Senate will vote on Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill (S.2232) on January 12th. As reported by the Wall Street Journal:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) scheduled a vote for next month on legislation known as “Audit the Fed,” which would expand congressional oversight of the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decisions. The bill would allow the Government Accountability Office to review Fed decisions on monetary policy. The vote is likely to take place Jan. 12, according to Mr. McConnell’s office. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who introduced the bill early this year, applauded the move, saying in a statement Friday that “the Fed operating under a cloak of secrecy has gone on for far too long.” The bill would need support from at least 60 senators to advance the legislation over the Senate’s procedural hurdles, which means it would need Democratic support.
