Occupy Santa Cruz asks…
HOW WOULD YOU OCCUPY 2012?
Come to a 2 hour visioning session on priorities and possible actions as we ramp up 2012. This event will happen from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday January 18, at the new facilities of the Resource Center for Non-Violence at 612 Ocean Street. Come one, come all !!
Community members and representatives of groups that identify with the Occupy movement—or not—are invited to SPEAK OUT on where they think the movement should go in 2012. We will also learn about the current Occupy working groups and share ideas for possible new working groups.
This is a brainstorming session. No decisions will be made at this gathering. Rather the emphasis will be on listening to one another, honoring our diversity, and reaffirming our commitment to non-violent action to challenge the corruption of our democracy by the 1%.
Occupy work teams are already working on a variety of new projects including challenging “Citizens United” and home occupations in support of homeowners facing foreclosures.
Other national Occupy events on the immediate horizon include two major national demonstrations in Washington DC: Occupy Congress January 17th, and Occupy the Courts protesting the Citizens United decision January 20th. Occupy Santa Cruz will hold local events on the courthouse steps on those dates.
We would especially enjoy listening to how YOU would Occupy 2012!
