(Before It's News)

Relationship Radar is not just about detecting the right person for you.   Even if your radar worked expertly to find that person there is no guarantee that he will remain that person over time.  Because, you see —some people are changed by time and by the relationship they are in.  And so, it is vital that you continuously utilize your relationship radar to ensure that you should remain with him or say good-bye.

Most relationships change in different ways over time.  Although  Mick Jagger intelligently sang –

“Time, Is On Our Side”  —It doesn’t always work that way.

Time does test relationships but not everyone passes the test.  Many people can be loving, supportive and dependable for a while but then over time they change.  Some will get bored and distant as the excitement of a new relationship wanes.  Others may get burned out and exhausted by having to  adjust to the changes and problems that arise in relationships. And—- changes and problems will develop in all relationships!

For example,  let’s say that you are just barely getting by financially and working a part time job when you meet a very nice guy who happens to be a very financially successful guy as well.  You come together, start a relationship and he treats you to a luxurious lifestyle which you love and he loves—in part because he feels not only like your Prince Charming but also like the Director of your days and nights together.  But, what if you part time job eventually leads you to a very successful and  a very  busy and demanding career that you love as well.

Gradually,  with your increased responsibilities you just can’t immediately say yes to his plans for the Couple.  Now your days and nights together will sometimes involve him waiting for you with decisions made by you and him together.  This, however, does not go down for some guys. They will gradually distance themselves both emotionally and physically. Eventually their eyes will move off you and search out a woman and a relationship that they feel more comfortable with.

As this happens you will start to notice some symptoms of sadness and anger in yourself.  The sooner you notice these symptoms and then realize what is causing them and then go your own way——–the more heartache you will avoid.

The worldwide number one song over the past year “Somebody That I Used to Know”, by Gotye—–speaks exactly to this problem. Gotye wrote and sang—-

“You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness

Like resignation to the end, always the end

So when we found that we could not make sense

Well, you said that we could still be friends

But, I’ll admit I was glad when it was over”

How much time should you give a deteriorating relationship?  As little as possible!  Some of the joy of being in a loving relationship is how the couple gets closer and stronger as changes occur. Unfortunately, some people do not cope well with any changes and staying with them only insures that  things will get worse over time.

So, when your relationship radar detects problems–

Immediately—-Verbalize them,   Point out what you are seeing and what needs to change to your partner. If things don’t start to get better immediately—–Then, Move On!       And then, to best heal from the loss of the relationship—–Do not remain friends because Avoidance is the best medicine and therefore—Make Him Somebody That You Used to Know!!!

Give a listen to Gotye  and Kimbra who know what they are singing about!
