The book Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine was written nearly 2500 years ago in China. This book clearly states: “Anger injures the liver, joy hurts the heart, sadness weakens the lungs, worry damages the spleen, and fear wounds the kidneys.”

Each emotion releases a specific chemical protein into your body. These are like little messages, and they each set off different physiological reactions—some healing, some harmful.
Everyone is different, so we have different reactions to stress. Stress can effect you physically, emotionally, behaviorally, and cognitively. Stress in the long term can lead to more serious diseases.
So how can you take steps to manage your emotions without becoming a Buddhist monk?
Try looking within at your inner thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, and how you process stress in your life.
Science has found meditation is very beneficial, as it increases the amount of grey matter in your brain. This means if you meditate regularly, you’ll have more positive emotional states, and longer-lasting emotional stability.
As a human, you don’t want to be a slave to your emotions—you want to be the master!
