(Before It's News)

After getting engaged, the first thing that you’ll probably want to do is to announce it to the world at the top of your voice but there are actually far more creative and fun ways to reveal the exciting news. Some people send out funny cards in the post or packets of sweets with the message of the engagement hidden inside. Whatever method you choose, it is sure to be followed with hundreds of well wishes and maybe even a few engagement presents.

1. Host a Party

Gather all of your friends and family in one place and announce the news during your very own self-hosted surprise party. You could have the party at home or rent a small venue out for the night with enough music, food and alcohol to ensure you’re celebrating into the early hours of the morning. But be warned, as soon as you proclaim that you’re getting married it won’t be long before someone brings you to Bride Online to help you choose your elegant white dress and romantic venue for the big day.

2. Game Night

A unique way to spill the beans is to say it with a game. A common choice is to use Scrabble letters to spell out the words on the board. Glamour magazine advises that if you want to use a game to spread the news then a pictogram is the way to go. You can do this with either letters or pictures, which you can create using Microsoft Paint. Make it personal and send the pictogram out to everyone you know, it won’t be long before they crack the code.

3. Movie Poster

It’s time to get creative and make your own movie poster. You can mimic original romantic movie posters such as The Notebook, Titanic, Mr and Mrs Smith or you could even come up with your own. Simply edit the poster using Photoshop to include you and your partner. Your loved ones will get a good laugh and you can have the poster framed and put up on the wall of your new family home. Some couples may even want to include an image of the poster on the cover of their wedding invitations to make them more personal.

4. Make a Video

If a movie poster isn’t enough for you then perhaps creating your own engagement announcement video is more to your taste. You and your partner could dress up and have a little more fun with it. It’s a great way to make your special news last forever as you can keep the video for years to come and even show it to your kids in the future. The time from engagement to the actual wedding will often seem like forever. According to Huffington Post, 40 per cent of couples wait 13 to 18 months between ‘Yes!’ and ‘I do’. This is why making a video announcement is a good idea as it will give you and your partner something to smile about during those lengthy planning times of the engagement.

5. Post a Photo

One of the most popular ways that couples like to announce their engagement is via social media. You could have a professional photo done or take your own. Some creative ideas are to include a sign that says ‘She said YES!’ or ‘We’re ENGAGED!’.  Post the photo on Facebook or Instagram, sit back and let the likes and comments roll in.
