Time for a Torah Counterstrike

With the help of Heaven and with the protective hand of our Father in Heaven, Israel is standing strong in the face of massive attacks on it’s civilian population. It’s not easy, and it’s called terrorism for a reason – the affects on oneself and on the family is hard.
Yet we are seeing miracles HOURLY, as barbarian murderers bombard a civilian population in massive numbers without major damage or loss of life (THANK G-D). We give credit to our soldiers and those who created the technology for shooting down incoming rockets – but we must not fail to see the Hand of Heaven and miracles as even rockets that are not intercepted are not costing lives.
“Do not fear sudden terror nor the destruction of the wicked when it comes. Contrive a scheme but it will be foiled, conspire a plot but it will not materialize, for G-d is with us…”
But we have to do our part. BOTH for ourselves and to increase our merits to be protected by the Hand of Heaven. It’s time for a Torah Counterstrike…
We must never overlook – indeed, rather greatly emphasize the so-called “small and unsophisticated” things which each modest congregation, or even each individual, can and must do – beginning with the old, yet ever-new Jewish way, collectively as one people and also as individuals. This is the action of hakol kol Yaakov “the voice is the voice of Jacob” – Torah and prayer – which G-d himself has shown us to be the first effective action to nullify the power of yedei Eisov “the hands of Esau” – in whatever shape or form they are raised against us. – The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Letters 5th Teves, 5736
Here is our recommended “small and unsophisticated” Torah Counterstrike…
1. PRAYER.
— A. Everyone should add to their daily Shemona Esrai requests that all of Klal Yisroel be protected, that all the people of Israel be protected, and that our soldiers be protected and successful.
— B. If one does not normally practice Jewish prayer daily, one should say the Shema once daily in the merit of the safety and protection of Israel. Here’s a link to the Shema in English. If one can add it once in the morning and once at night, this is best.
— C. Our holy gedolim have recommend saying the following kipitilak of tehillim (numbered psalms) daily for such an emergency: 120-124, 130, 140
2. MITZVOT and acts of Goodness and Kindness
— A. The Rebbe specifically taught us that Tefillin is a top mitzvah for war. If you are a Jewish man, please put on Tefillin daily. Here’s an explanation of tefillin, if you don’t know what they are. If you don’t have tefillin, here’s a buyers guide. Or contact your local Chabad center, they may have a pair you can borrow or use for free.
— B. Add acts of goodness and kindness into your day…
Give charity every day, and for the duration of this emergency, in the merit of the safety and protection of Israel.

IN THE LUBAVITCHER REBBE’s WORDS…
“In view of the situation in and around Eretz Yisroel…expressly for the zechus (sake) of the security and strengthening of Eretz Yisroel, materially and spiritually, a special effort should be made in the spirit of ‘Old Israel’ – in the areas of Torah, Tefillah (Prayer) and Tzedakah (Charity). Specifically:
After davening (prayer) (both in the morning and at Mincha, afternoon), to learn (or to add) a subject in Torah, including halacha pesukah (final ruling).
Immediately following the davening (prayer), even before learning, to say several chapter of Tehillim (Psalms) (in addition to the regular portion).
Before and after davning (prayer) – to give tzedakah (charity) (in addition to the regular donation), including tzedakah for a sacred cause or institution in Eretz Yisroel, Eretz haChayim (“Land of Living”).
Needless to say, one who repeats the above again and again in the course of the day, is to be praised, and each time – the more one does it (in quantity and quality), is to be praised all the more. And, as in all matters of Kedushah (holiness), it is desirable that all the above be done b’Tzibbur (in public) (with at least a Minyan).
May Hashem accept, and He will accept, the prayers and supplications of Jews wherever they are, and soon, in our very own days, may the Promise be fulfilled that “These days will be transformed into days of rejoicing and gladness,”
With the true and complete Geulah (Redemption) through our righteous Moshiach.

Yalkut Shimoni Yishayahu Remez 499 – “…The Jewish people will be trembling and quaking and saying: “Where can we go? Where can we go?” And [Hashem] will say to them: My children, do not fear! Everything I did I did only for you”
May we immediately merit to see the Hand of Heaven (in an obvious fashion) and the arrival of Moshiach Tzidkaynu, mamash, NOW!
