California Drought is Driving the Depletion of Irreplaceable Groundwater. A third of America’s produce comes from California. Unfortunately a similar situation is happening in the middle of the country as farmers compete with cities and towns to see who can suck out the most water from the Ogallala Aquifer.

 

Water is the biggest output of US oil and gas wells. The biggest product of the U.S. petroleum industry is not oil, gas or condensate but water — billions of gallons containing dissolved salts, grease and radioactive materials.
