Gang jailed for 77 years in total

A group of nine Asian men (Pakistani and 1 Afghan) have been found guilty of conspiracy to engage with girls under 16 in Liverpool, England. The men groomed the girls and sexually exploited and raped them for a number of years. Some men claimed that their arrests were racially motivated but the judge concluded that their offences were due to lust and greed. They had given the girls alcohol and free food (most of them lived in care homes or were from dysfunctional families) and their ringleader was sentenced to 19 years in prison. The others received sentences of between 4 and 12 years.
