For those not familiar with augmented reality look at it as your phone’s camera displaying the world around you, and duplicating it on your device. Which then the developer can overlay the duplicated world around you with games, or services and products like Alien Attack or Wikitude has done.
Alien Attack’s concept is very simple locate the aliens attacking your world and destroy them by shooting missiles at them. Follow the directional arrows on screen that point you up down left or right of where the aliens are. They could be anywhere so you have to check every angle. Beware because the aliens aren’t the only other thing you are trying to beat. You must beat the clock to also stop each wave of alien attacks to proceed to the next level. The controls on the game are just as simple as the concept of the game. Touch the screen or trackpad to shoot, and use your body to turn left or to the right up or down. The game is also best played while standing up. (You can play it sitting down but can be a little tricky to move around freely)
It is recommended that you play in a well lighted area. I usually play outside or in a mall especially if I am looking to kill some time. This game has brought a lot of attention to others walking by, wondering what I am doing with my phone. To my surprise it has really caught potential consumers attention, and to know that it is a game that is available for the BlackBerry platform people were quite intrigued. Alien Attack is by far one of my favorite games on the BlackBerry 7 platform and I can see how this can lead to a whole potential of new games and apps that utilizes augmented reality. So if you are using a BlackBerry 7 device check out the link below and pick up this awesome game for $0.99.
