Good news for all the fans of the Thunderbolt’s 10-gigabit interface and the users of Windows, as the Thunderbolt’s 10-gigabit will finally work and become compatible with Windows after being a Mac only interface for over a year. This news come as a surprise and has raised so many questions regarding how did both Intel and Apple work together to make this connection and compatibility possible for The Microsoft Windows’ users.
It has been tested at AnandTech, which is considered one of the very first motherboards ever to support this feature on a Windows PC. Some great results have been shown on the Icy Bridge ready board form MSI, as a few files were in the high-speed ointment. This brings a lot of happy news, as the storage devices are expected to work without any problems. Also this connection would make you able to use some of the Apple’s Thunderbolt Display features if you can sacrifice USB support.
As for the sad news, it is basically because the fact that the true hot plugging of the Mac will not be there, as if there is a device connected to the Thunderbolt port when the system is booted, Windows will not recognize it.
