Why Prezi Is The New “Power Point” For Good Looking and Feature Rich Presentations

(Before It's News)

At the recent 7th Annual Small Business Summit, sponsored by Dell, we had most of our presentations on Microsoft Power Point which just about every business professional has used and seen, many times. Most of us, use the default templates of common bullet points and some color. A few people get really nice Power Points designed by professionals, those look like something Guy Kawasaki or Seth Godin (but he uses Apple’ s Keynote).

There’s a “new” company, however, that’s been stealing the VISUAL (or proverbial) LIME LIGHT and it’s Prezi.

At the Summit, Austin Craig of Orabrush gave his presentation with Prezi. His delivery was outstanding but we all were also pretty impressed with his “digital presentation” or his “Prezi Power Point”.

“With Prezi, people inspire change – in their schools, at the podium, and in the boardroom.” says Prezi CEO, Peter Arvai. “There is a prezi created every second and the new PowerPoint import feature makes this evolution of collaborative, interactive storytelling accessible to all. It’s time to think outside the slide.”

In a recent interview, Peter explained to me that we’ve (presentation makers) been trained to develop our presentations in a linear, outline fashion. However, our natural minds don’t work in a “line” we work in multiple dimensions – Prezi helps you do this.

I watched a 6 minute demonstration of Prezi – Prezi 101 and was amazed at how simple and frankly FUN it was to use.

I’m not sure if I’m quite ready to let go of years of training in using Power Point – but I’m close.

Here’s a photo of Peter, his media colleague and me on a Skype call interview
