HTC acknowledges Wi-Fi issues on One X, issue resoled in current production Models

On June 11th we found some information related to poor Wi-Fi signal on the HTC One X. XDA member  bigoliver even went so far as to make a video of the issue so you could see what was going on and others made videos on how to fix it manually. While we didn’t suggest you tear into your device and try to solve the issue yourself, it was an option you could explore. After hundreds of reports of users suffering from the defect in the device, HTC has made a formal statement.

After investigating isolated reports of WiFi connectivity issues in the HTC One X, we have identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the WiFi antennae connection points. While many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength, we have taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future. HTC is committed to making sure every customer has a great experience and we apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused while we conducted a thorough investigation.

We aren’t sold on the “isolated reports” statement. The XDA thread that is up a running about the issue is over 120 pages deep. After looking through much of the thread our selves, it seems mostly the issue is present on international Tegra 3 based versions. That seems to be confirmed by HTC to Androidpolice as well. We haven’t seen or heard much of anything from the Rogers or AT&T customers having the issue. We would have liked to see what they changed to strengthen the connection points and how it will keep the issue from popping up again, but beggars can’t be choosers.

HTC recommends you call their customer support line and speak to a rep if you are experiencing the issue yourself. You can also check with your carrier or the store you purchased it from. No mater what you do, you should definitely swap out your device for a new and improved one so you can get the full One X experience.
