HTC’s Peter Chou wants to keep their devices away from the low-end

(Before It's News)

This year, HTC created the excellent ”One” line of phones with the One X, One S and One V. But over the last few years, HTC has created both high-end phones and low-end phones. But things seems to be about to change, according to what HTC’s CEO Peter Chou said to the Wall Street Journal, “We don’t want to destroy our brand image” so they will stop making “cheap, cheap” phones just to increase sales.

I think this is very good for both HTC and the consumers, HTC made a great phone with the One X and keeping away from low-budget devices which we all know don’t work that well can only mean that consumers will be more pleased when buying an HTC device, but also means that mid to high-end phones could lower their prices a bit, since the market won’t be so crowded with crappy phones.

Chou said that he expects to ship three times as many units to China than the last year and that they want to grow market share in Europe, Africa and Middle East (who doesn’t want that, right?)

The final idea is simple, get better phones in the hand of people and they will see HTC as a better brand. And that’s good for everyone.
