Have you ever heard the saying “we know more about what is in our moon than we do about what is in our oceans?” While this statement might seem a little unlikely, it is actually not too far from the truth. Currently, we have only explored roughly 15% of our oceans with almost all of this exploration being done in the first 1/2 mile of the surface. We really have no clear idea of all of the lifeforms that inhabit the far depths. In the past the only way we even had any idea of any lifeforms being at these depths would be when deep sea fishing lines would snag a specimen or a dead one would wash up on a shoreline. But now that is changing.
