The open source Firefox OS that has been teased (in words only) over the last couple of months finally got a tiny reveal on Wednesday thanks to Rob Hawkes whom published the image on his Twitter account. The legitimacy of the image was established once Brendan Eich, Mozilla’s own CTO, re-tweeted the same image.
While all we get to see is a single glimpse at the lock screen, the OS formerly known as B2G (Back to Gecko) is at least on this front shaping up to be pretty slick. That said, we still have a bit of waiting as B2G/Firefox OS isn’t slated to begin hitting public devices until next year (early 2013).
Question is, with iOS and Android dominating the mobile sector (and smaller competitors fighting for what little scraps of marketshare are available), does another OS even stand a chance? With the right marketing spin and enough developer support, surely anything is at least possible.
Would you be willing to give Firefox OS a chance?
