The Brammo Empulse R Is The Electric Sport Bike We Want Under Our Tree This Christmas.

(Before It's News)

I’m not really a bike person. But gazing at Brammo’s Empulse R is doing all sorts of bad things to my financial senses. The all-electric, 100+ MPH crotch rocket looks sick onscreen and on the spec sheets. (Mother earth is pleased too.) The $19k price tag isn’t so smile-inducing, though. That said, that $19k worth of $1 bills will get you quite a bit:

  • water-cooled permanent magnet AC motor
  • IET 6 speed gearbox
  • Brammo BPM 15/90 battery modules
  • carbon fiber headlight shroud, front and rear fenders, top panel and rear light housing
  • name badge
  • fully adjustable (gold) front suspension and fully adjustable adjustable rear-suspension

So what’s all that performance cost you in the long run? Range for city riding is ~121 miles while more lively highway driving will cut things down by half to ~56 miles. If you still can’t get past the $19k entry fee, a non-R version of the Empulse that sheds the pricey carbon fiber for more common materials shaves a couple thousand off the final price.

For motorcycle/speed junkies looking to try some new age, earth-friendly fun, Brammo’s Empulse and Empulse R look pretty sweet, no?
