When I first saw this device a while back, I was interested. It was a good tablet for a beginner, or someone who did not need a lot of power. But when I scrolled down to the, “Add to cart” option, I laughed hysterically.
The ARCHOS 97 Carbon is the same ballpark as an iPhone in my opinion. Mediocre specs, for a drastic price. With a recent web store update, ARCHOS has knocked the tablet down to $250, which is still a lot for what you “actually get”.
Here are some of the specs:
- A 1GHz single-core processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- 16GB of internal memory, with SD card expansion up to 48GB
- And basic Google apps
For this price, you can snatch the popular Nexus 7, with a quad-core processor! I guess the days of cheap tablets from the company are over, at least for now. But you do get a USB port and SD card compatibly on the 97 Carbon.
What do you think of the ARCHOS 97? Will you but it over the Nexus? I would love to hear your comments.
