GoPago has developed a free smart phone application that allows consumers to browse, order, and pay for local goods and services, while offering merchants support in the areas of creating mobile storefronts and providing customer offers and rewards. The ability for a merchant to use a tablet in place of a traditional point of sale terminal, plus gain access to sales analytics, also is an advantage.
Customers can pay using an app downloaded to Android, iPhone or BlackBerry smart phones.
GoPago keeps track of what customers have been in the store today, what they purchased, and how many times they’ve shopped using GoPago. For non-customers who use the app, GoPago also can send alerts when a user has visited the mobile site, but has not yet made a purchase in the merchant’s store.
In addition to keeping track of who’s shopping, the app on merchant side also keeps an accurate account of what people are buying, even those not using GoPago. the company claims.
In some cases, merchants might be able to replace point of sale systems entirely, using GoPago instead.
The San Francisco based company was founded in 2009, and currently works with merchants in Mountain View, Calif., the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas and San Francisco.
