DigiVive an active player in the Mobile Value Added Services (M-VAS) has tied-up with ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) to beam live coverage & match highlights of ICC World Twenty20 cricket matches.
Already having started from September 18th, the ICC Twenty20 has managed to make significant inroads via the technology route. What was once a domain of television; has been swept away to millions of mobile phones. As cricket has always been a favorite of the nation & Indians had won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, the company hopes to attract millions of viewers says Mr. GD Singh, Director, DigiVive, “After winning the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, all eyes will be on the Men in Blue to regain the ICC World Twenty20 title. We are excited at the live streaming opportunity provided to us by ESS”
A while ago NexGTv from DigiVive had tie-up with Times Television Network & it has already proven its success by garnering a viewership of over 15 Million unique users during the India-Sri-Lanka series.
Since smartphones are already making a mainstay entrance into the lives of Indians, the app stores are witnessing an amazing growth. However, owing to relatively slower internet connections, especially on the mobile phones, these streaming services still have a vast & untapped market. Once high-speed mobile broadband becomes commonplace, such services should see a very high adoption rate. Since content will be of utmost importance it, seems DigiVive is securing the same.
Judging by the response such services are able to garner, that day doesn’t seem far away. Will traditional advertising shift its base to the mobile screen once such streaming services are widely used?
