This is an interesting idea from HP, it’s the new EliteBook 8570w a build to order (BTO) laptop aimed at the gaming market who will love the idea of being able to build their own machine virtually from scratch, naturally there is the price to think about, but this is gaming we are talking about and does cost ever play a factor in this? The EliteBook 8570w goes under the guise of a mobile workstation, but it is neither really! However, what this laptop is a good machine where a gamer can pick and choose almost all of the components from the chassis up. Basically the EliteBook 8570w has a 15.6 inch screen, Intel Core i5 processor and Vida Quadra graphics card, but that is just the start.
HP have really pulled out all of the stops with this one, so let us see what the base model has to offer, it has a 15.6-inch widescreen display with high-resolution and Full HD. it is equipped with a LED back light and there is a 1920 × 1080 of pixel resolutions, but there is no web camera! It is running on Windows Service Pack 1 full version 7 Professional operating system, powered by the Intel Core i5-3320M processor with 2.6 GHz to 3.3 GHz and the Intel Smart Cache 3MB. It has support for the Mobile Intel QM77 Express chipset and there is the NVIDIA Quadro K1000M with 2 GB at DDR3.
There is up to 4 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3-SDRAM and there is 500 GB of 7,200 rpm Serial ATA II, hard disk drive (HDD) with corresponding feature SMART, compatible HP 3D Drive Guard. For networking, there is the built-in Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection 1000 BASE-T/100 Base-TX/10 Base-T Ethernet, with compliance Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR (built-in) and there is the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n WLAN. While there is connectivity from the two fast connecting, USB 3.0 ports and a standard style USB 2.0 with eSATA USB 2.0 combo port. The machine measures up at 382 mm (W) × 257.5 mm (D) × 34.5 mm (H) and it weighs in at 3.1 kilos with the (8-cell) Lithium-ion battery installed that HP claim will offer up 4.6 hours of power.
HP have priced this new BTO laptop to start from $2,334, but as you will be aware this is for the real basic machine and the finally price is likely to end up closer to $3,000 once the buyer has gone through the optional extras.
