Samsung announced on Wednesday that its Galaxy Note II smartphone will be available on all four major carriers in the U.S. by mid-November.

The new smartphone is the successor to the current Galaxy Note, which features a 5.3-inch screen and is for sale for as low as $199.99.

The Galaxy Note II will have a 5.5-inch HD screen, as well as 1.6-GHz, quad-core Samsung Exynos processor that is optimized for LTE networks.

Samsung’s new smartphone will arrive on AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile pre-loaded with Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. This will be the first Samsung smartphone to run Google’s Jelly Bean software.

The Galaxy Note II also comes with the S Pen, which is a stylus that has 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, which is four times more than the original version.

The smartphone will also feature an 8-megapixel camera, and a battery with a large capacity that should carry the phone through a full day without charging.

Samsung has not shared specific dates or prices for the new phone, but it says it expects carriers to make their separate announcements with that information soon.

Launching the Galaxy Note II on all four major carriers is a big accomplishment for Samsung, because the original Note had launched exclusively to AT&T in the U.S.

Samsung launched its Galaxy S III device on all four major carriers in the U.S., without having to alter its hardware design.

The new Galaxy Note II will have 2 gigabytes of RAM, and 16 gigabytes of internal storage, as well as a microSD card slot for expandable storage of up to 64 gigabytes.

The announcement of the new smartphone comes a week after Apple took the stage with its newest iPhone 5. The latest iPhone will be available this Friday, and was available for pre-order last friday.

Over the weekend, Apple took two million iPhone 5 pre-orders in the first 24 hours of availability. Analysts anticipate that Apple will be selling 8 million units its debuting weekend.
