(Before It's News)

The recent results published by IDC show a whooping rise in the sales graph of smartphones. The last year sales figure has grown up by around 45% showing unexpected increase in the popularity of smart gadgets among regular users. iPhones were lagging behind in the sales race as the latest version was on stands quite recently.

Apple and Samsung

Top slots saw the entry of RIM that won its position by ousting the well-established mobile giant Nokia from its previous position. Apple and Samsung continue to rule the roost by maintaining their top positions in the popularity chart. A lot of improvements are expected in the latest offerings of Nokia phones that are expected to endorse the concept of Windows 8 mobile phones.

HTC and ZTE are the new upcoming players that have been able to manage respectable slots among top five grosser. ZTE is reported the 4th best performer in the North American market while HTC is able to attract the gadget geeks by offering latest technology in power devices. These results have already geared up the companies’ R & D to come up with better handsets so that they may cash upon the festive season sales. It will be really interesting to see what is going to be the trend in the next quarter.
