Addicted To Retail (ATR) presents: My Panda shop by Torafu Architects, Tokyo.
the new ‘my panda retail store’ located in the basement of shibuya’s PARCO part 1, and designed by tokyo-based practice torafu architects,
represents an architectural rendition of the two-tone scheme that defines the fashion line. the duality of color is rendered through
the archetypal image of a house, double-hued, existing half inside and half outside. the exterior is used as a display case and bench
while the interior structures provide displays and welcoming counter. staind or painted oriented strand board (OSB) is used to create
the various fixtures, display objects and floors. along the length of the wall a curved rail reminiscent of a garden line provides a
perch for individual articles of clothing, whose curved nature facilitates browsing. as the store is located off the main corridor,
a panda painted on the wall opposite the entrance greets visitors who are wandering by.
