AT&T Apparently Relents, Activating FaceTime Over Cellular For Non-LTE Customers Too?

(Before It's News)

Earlier this month, AT&T announced FaceTime over cellular was finally coming, though, with a few strings attached. Customers with old, grandfathered unlimited data plans and those with non-LTE devices would not be seeing FaceTime over cellular support. Only newer LTE devices would work (on LTE and 3G/HSPA too). But it appears AT&T is caving more (as they should).

MacRumors forum member kre62 discovered last night that his iPhone 4S with iOS 6, a non-LTE device, had its “FaceTime over Cellular” toggle activated. The tests that followed proved successful. Throughout the same forum thread are more reports of successful FaceTime over cellular calls that according to AT&T’s previous requirements, wouldn’t be eligible.

We’re waiting to hear back from AT&T as to whether or not they’ve had a change of heart or if this is more-so an error on AT&T’s part. Either way, the fact there’s any restriction is ridiculous. But you knew that already, right?
