Big Story Weather from November 23-25: This past weekend we saw a clipper system move through the Northern Plains bringing a light dusting of snow to the region. As it moved over the lakes it gained some strength and we saw our first lake effect snow event for many cities along the lakes. High pressure also brought the first freeze to folks in Florida this past weekend and along the Gulf Coast. Snow continued to fall in the Pacific Northwest along with the coastal rains. The Southwest enjoyed warm and dry conditions over the past weekend.
Weather Outlook for November 26: High pressure off the Northeast coast will bring partly cloudy skies to the East Coast today, which will give way to mostly cloudy skies by this evening. Low pressure developing over Southeastern Texas will bring showers and thunderstorms, some which may reach severe level for places like Houston and Dallas. This will also slowly move towards the Gulf Coast by this afternoon and evening. High pressure over the Northern Plains will bring partly cloudy skies to the region. This will extend westward into the Rockies and the Northwest giving these regions partly cloudy skies today. Below is the weather for a few select cities.

International Weather Outlook for November 26: Low pressure moving through Japan will bring showers to most of the island through the late evening. High pressure along Eastern China will bring partly cloudy skies to the region. This will also extend into the Koreas. High pressure over the Tibetan Plateau will bring partly cloudy skies to most of Southeast Asia. Low pressure moving through England will bring showers and extensive cloud cover to Spain and France. An area of low pressure will be moving through the tip of South America bringing a few showers to the region. A low pressure and associated frontal boundary will be moving into Western Australia bringing a few showers and more cloud cover. Here is the forecast for a few select international cities.
Tokyo Japan: Mostly Cloudy/Light Rain with a low near 7C.
Hong Kong China: Partly Cloudy with a low near 15C.
New Delhi India: Partly Cloudy with a low near 24C.
Madrid Spain: Mostly Cloudy with a few Showers and cool with a low near 7C.
Perth Australia: Partly Cloudy with a low near 13C.
November 26, 2012 Storm Tracker Update:
Atlantic Basin: Low pressure moving across England will bring showers and clouds to the region. Another low moving through the North Central Atlantic will bring increased seas to shipping routes.
North America: An area of low pressure is starting to take shape over Eastern Texas and will bring showers and thunderstorms some of which may be severe to this region along with the US Gulf Coast today and tonight.
Eastern Pacific: Low pressure moving across the Central Pacific towards California will slowly be pushed northeastward over the next 24hrs. Low pressure moving out of the Gulf of Alaska towards the Pacific Northwest will bring increased showers and winds to the region over the next couple of days.
Western Pacific: An area of low pressure is beginning to push into the Western Gulf of Alaska and will continue to push towards Alaska over the next 24hrs. A second low pressure is moving across Japan today which is bringing moderate rains and mountain snows to the region.
Indian Ocean: No major weather events in this region.
Southern Hemisphere: A very potent low pressure system is beginning to move east towards the southern tip of South America. A secondary low is moving towards Southwest Australia which will bring showers to the region over the next 24hrs. A tropical low pressure is located to the Northeast of Australia and has a slight chance of further development today.
Five Day Storm Index Outlook for November 26-30:
New York NY: The period will start off dry, followed by a moderate impact on the 27th. This is associated with a frontal boundary that will bring rain changing to snow to the region with some accumulations expected. On the 28th impacts will be back to slight mostly for road crew cleanups. The remainder of the period will be impact free with high pressure.
Mobile AL: Today a slight impact will begin to develop with showers and thunderstorms moving into the area. Look for the impacts tomorrow to become moderate with some strong thunderstorms leading to wind damage and hail damage possible in the area. Then the region will return to no impacts as high pressure builds into the region.
Omaha NE: High pressure will bring this region nice weather and no impacts for the entire week.
Denver CO: High pressure over the region will leave it impact free for the entire week.
Seattle WA: The period will start out tranquil in between frontal systems, however by the 28th the next frontal system moves into the region and will bring with it shower and slight impacts for the remainder of the week.
Climate Watch for November 21-25:
New York NY: Temps started the period out around 1-2 degrees above average followed by a slight warm up with temps around 3 degrees above average and then a sharp drop on the 25th to temps around 10 degrees below average.
Mobile AL: The period started with temps around 6-7 degrees above average followed by the 24th when temps fell to around 6-7 degrees below average and then on the 25th temps fell to around 3-5 degrees below average.
Omaha NE: The period started with temps around 17-26 degrees above average followed by a cool down on the 23rd when temps fell to around 1-2 degrees below average.
Denver CO: The period started with temps about 22 degrees above average and then fell to around 2-13 degrees above average for the remainder of the period.
Seattle WA: The entire period has seen temps around 1-3 degrees below average.
Major Weather Impacts Discussion for November 26, 2012:
Day 1-3: High pressure off the East Coast will bring nice weather to the region today. A developing low pressure over Eastern Texas will bring showers and thunderstorms to the region today. High pressure over the Northern Plains will bring a cool but nice day to the region. The high pressure will also bring favorable weather to the Rockies and the West Coast. The end of this period will have high pressure building in over the Eastern 2/3 of the United States, while a very strong low pressure system begins to make its way on shore over the Pacific Northwest. Gradient winds will also setup in this region making conditions favorable for winds in excess of 45mph for many locations.
Day 4-7: The period starts with a few lake enhanced snow showers in the Northeast, along with a very strong high pressure center over the Northeast extending back into the Plains region. The frontal boundary begins to move on shore bringing increased showers, winds and higher elevation snows to the West Coast. During the middle of this period high pressure will be over Maine and extend all the way back to the Mississippi River valley, while the Northern Plains and Rockies begin to see moisture from the Pacific system make its way into the region bringing some rain and snow to the region. The Pacific Northwest will still be dealing with the frontal boundary in the region. The end of this period will have high pressure over the Southeast and a weak frontal boundary moving through the Northern Plains which will have a few showers and snow showers associated with it. The main frontal boundary will still be along the Pacific Northwest during this time bringing more rain and mountain snows to the region.
Day 8-12: The period will begin with high pressure over the Southeast and a frontal boundary moving through the Great Lakes which could create some additional snow showers along the lake favored areas. A weak high pressure ridge will be over the Northern Plains and extend back into the Southwest, while more energy continues to enter into the Pacific Northwest. The middle of this period we will see the high pressure finally push off the Southeast coast, while another stronger low pressure system moves into the Great Lakes region on the east side of its track will be some significant rainfall totals. On the far northwest side of this back in the Dakotas and Minnesota we could be looking at some heavy snowfall totals. Another high pressure area builds in over the Northern Rockies, while a frontal boundary again brings more moisture to the Pacific Northwest. The end of this period will have the low pressure center moving into the Northeast with the associated frontal boundary extending down into the Gulf Coast along with some thunderstorms in the south and moderate rains in the north we will also see on the northwest side back over the lakes some moderate snowfall possible.
Day 13-15: The period will begin with our low pressure system and all the rain finally pushing off the East Coast while high pressure builds back in behind it. A secondary high pressure will extend from the Colorado region westward into California, while another frontal boundary begins to push towards the Pacific Northwest. The middle of this period will have a low pressure over the extreme Northeast, while High pressure builds in over the East Coast all the way southward into the Gulf Coast and westward all the way to California. The Pacific Northwest and Northern Plains will both be seeing increased moisture with the systems moving through the region.

Monday: Partly Cloudy and mild with a high near 77F, winds will be from the Northeast at 18-23mph as overnight lows fall to around 71F.
Tuesday: Partly Cloudy and mild with a high near 76F, winds from the Northeast around 15-20mph as overnight lows fall to around 72F.
Wednesday: Partly Cloudy with a high near 76F, winds will shift to the Southeast around 2-7mph as overnight lows fall to around 69F.
Thursday: Partly Cloudy and warmer with a high near 78F, winds will become light and variable as overnight lows fall to around 69F.
Friday: Partly Cloudy and mild with a high near 78F, winds will be from the Northeast around 2-7mph as overnight lows only fall to around 70F.

Question: What is going to happen along the East Coast this week with the storm?
Answer: This weekend many people have been asking me what about this storm that is coming up the East Coast and how bad it will be. This week’s storm will move up the East Coast, but there should be enough distance that it moves out to sea allowing for most of the region to be in the cold sector. This means they will see very cold rain or even snow. The bigger cities along the I-95 boundary will start out with rain and slowly from the north to south turn to snow with the Southern cities such as DC and Baltimore getting around 1-2 inches of snowfall, while New York might get closer to 4 inches.

Green Energy Weather Report for November 26:
Wave Energy: The low pressure that is moving in from the Gulf of Alaska will bring moderate seas to the region making it a great location for wave energy today. The development of a low pressure over Eastern Texas this afternoon will make the waves in the Northern Gulf become suitable for wave energy as well today.
Solar Energy: High pressure off the East Coast will bring a nice day for creating solar energy. A second area in the Southeast will also see favorable solar energy conditions today. The third area that is showing support of solar energy will be through the Northern Plains as the next high pressure area moves into the region today. Lastly, the Southwest again today will have ample sunshine to support excellent solar energy conditions.
Wind Energy: The development of the low pressure and associated frontal boundaries in Texas and Oklahoma today will bring some favorable winds to this region to support wind energy today.
Hydro-Energy: The Red River of Texas and the Lower Mississippi River Valley will be the site of some much needed rain that could create a nice day of hydro energy producing in this region.
November 26 Weather and Your Wallet (Gulfport MS):
Dining: A very nice afternoon to eat at the park or an outdoor dining area. However, because of the rain and thunderstorms, tonight will be a good time to stay indoors.
Transportation: A smooth start to the day. Look for conditions to get bad around 5pm as the rain begins to move into the area and the overnight hours will be harder to travel as it will be dark. Hydroplaning may begin to start occurring especially on the high traveled roads where the water can set and pond up so be careful if you are out driving this evening.
Shopping: A good afternoon for shopping, however after work rain will make you want to find the big malls and shop indoors.
Electricity: A nice day in store for energy purposes, however do look for a small window of time where you may need the air conditioner this afternoon. Also this evening be advised that some small power outages may occur during the stronger thunderstorms but all power outages should be short lived.
Agriculture: A nice day to get some outside work done around the house and the farm, however this evening the rain will start to fall in the region.
Construction: The first part of today will be a good day to get road work done, however by this evening things will get harder as the rain starts to fall on the projects and wet the soil and roadways.
Outdoor Venues: If you need to get out for that walk it would be best during your lunch break or early this afternoon before all the weather starts to move into the region.
