Google has updated its free translation service to offer several new features: reverse translations, frequencies and synonyms.
The new reverse translation feature should help to make translations more accurate and to give users a better understanding of the differences between several languages. A translated sentence is now annotated with its most frequent reverse translations, thus helping you to break down subtle differences between your native sentence and the target translation language.
A new feature called frequencies has also been added, showing how common or uncommon a translation is. The rarest translations are hidden by default but can be revealed at the click of a button.
Finally, a feature called synonyms is now available to show you clusters of related words, helping you to expand the vocabulary of the target language that you are translating to.
