Once again, the Nomad is available but this time Maingear have gone for a smaller version to the Nomad 17, which makes the prospect of portable gaming a real possibility with the Nomad 15. Clearly, this version of the Nomad sports a fifteen inch display, with Intel Core i7 processors, Nvidia Geforce graphics cards and a whole host of features and upgrades to allow the gamer to virtually build a personalised machine. The gaming sector is traditionally tough for any computer maker as gamers tend to be very particular when it come to the machine that are using and the features that can be found inside.
This Nomad 15 offers the gamer a fifteen inch screen with Anti-Reflective LED-backlit display offering a 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions and an integrated 2.0 mega pixel 720P HD web camera. It is going to be running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate 64-bit operating system and powered by the Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor with a 2.3 GHz to 3.3 GHz with a 6 MB Cache. There is support for the Intel HM77 express chipset and graphics come from the NVIDIA GeForce GTX GDDR5 graphics card from the 675M 2.0 GB to the 680M 4 GB version. Memory starts from a 8 GB Corsair DDR3-1333 SODIMMs 2 x 4 GB to the 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 1.5V 4 x 8 GB, with up to 750 GB hard disk drive (HDD) and up to 60 GB Corsair Accelerator solid state drive (SSD).
Networking has the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 802.11n wireless LAN with Bluetooth and the On-board Gigabit Ethernet LAN. Other features include the 7 in 1 Card Reader, three super fast USB 3.0 ports, two standard style USB 2.0 ports and the VGA (15-pin, D-Sub) & HDMI display ports. As this is a portable gaming machine, it measures up at an easily transportable 1.77 inch (H) x 10.24 inches (D) x 14.97 inches (W) and it weighs in at 7.7 pounds, which is not really that portable. The starting price for the Maingear Nomad 15 gaming laptop starts at around $1,550 and is available now from the firm’s website.
