Yet again, we amazed to find that the Japan based manufacturer Mouse Computer has launched yet another new laptop. This time it is the LB-S221S-SSD, a small 11.6 inch machine with an i5 Intel Core processor, with an Intel chipset and graphics too. This is a laptop that comes with a choice the now standard colours of blue, red and silver, it has been designed to work on Windows 8, but the standard model comes with the standard Windows 7 OS. There is a hard drive and the option for a SSD, so that helps with the weight and size.
Basically what we have here is a standard laptop offer the user an 11.6 inch screen in glare type with LCD HD LED backlight offering a 1366 × 768 of pixel resolutions and a built in 1.3 mega pixel web camera. It is running either Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate 64-bit operating system, but can go with Windows 8 if the user wants the splash cash a bit more. The basic model is powered by the Intel Core i3-2350M processor with a 2.10 GHz clock speed and 3 MB Smart Cache, there is support for the Intel HM65 Express chipset and the video is controlled by the capable Intel HD Graphics 3000 card.
This is start off memory of 4 GB of PC3-10600 DDR3 SODIMM but this can go up to 8 GB is required and there is a 500 GB SerialATAII 5400rpm hard disk drive with an option to switch to an SSD is needed. When it comes to networking there is the module compliant with IEEE 802.11 b / g / n wireless LAN, Bluetooth V4.0 + LE and the 1000 Base-T/100 Base-TX/10 BASE-T (RJ-45) wired LAN. Other features include the D-sub & HDMI display ports, two standard type USB 2.0 ports, a single superfast USB 3.0 port, a Multi-Card Reader, Stereo Speaker and Touch pad (with scroll). As for the size, this laptop measures up at 288 mm (W) x 195 mm (D) x 36 mm (H) and it weighs in at just 1.5 kilos with the built in lithium-ion battery pack installed that Mouse Computer say will offer up to 5.3 hours of power.
This light and small computer has been priced my Mouse Computer to start from $750, which is all right for this style of laptop, but is the brand big enough to justify this pricing?
