On its 12th anniversary, NASA, the International Space Station, launched a new service that will enable access to the station in the night. NASA was celebrating having a crew consistently onboard. The new service which they launched is known as Spot the Station which is a web app. It is capable of texting and emailing the time that NASA will pass the location of a user through their phone.
Johnson Space Center, also of NASA, is responsible for doing the calculations for the over 4,600 spots globally and they determine when ISS will be high in the sky to be seen above obstacles like trees and buildings. Apparently, ISS is the second brightest object in the sky at night, the first being the moon and so it can be seen on naked eye. You can get the alerts too if you wish.
