(Before It's News)

We all know The Pirate Bay, it’s a name that the internet echoes to the masses at every dark corner we stumble upon. Whether you are a pirate at heart, or an anti-piracy troop, you know the name. Whether you like the name, or the idea behind The Pirate Bay, they’re a driving force in a party of individuals that stand for something greater than you might know.

Earlier in the year, The Pirate Bay decided it was time to show people they were just here to “steal” from those entitled to millions of dollars. Launching a division of their website where filmmakers, musicians, writers and so many other artists could jump on the chance to have highly trafficked advertising, stamped right there on the front of the website’s homepage, you know the place, right where the Pirate Bay logo would normally sit.

The side project became so popular that The Pirate Bay has decided to dedicate an entire website to the project. After having more than 10,000 artists signing up in only a few short months, there was nothing else to do but to dedicate the promotional extravaganza it’s own site – The Promo Bay.

The Pirate Bay is a heavily visited entity, so after adding thousands of other interested groups, the team behind the Bay couldn’t handle it anymore. They had to create a separate addition to the pirate fleet. The popularity of the project grew so fast and having a dedicated outlet for it was the only route that made sense.

It’s all for the artists out there trying to find some sort of spotlight for their brand. Not only will The Promo Bay be an outlet for interested artists to boast their product, The Promo Bay will also go above and beyond to offer detailed statistics to the artists so they can keep track of where their magic is most popular. So once the artist connects with the Promo Bay, they’ll know which of their torrents is the most popular.

Many artists already distribute their content via Torrent websites. It’s a commonplace among independent musicians. I know many bands that take these routes for distribution, so to be able to have a separate outlet to promote your art, that is directly tied with The Pirate Bay is huge. There is nothing wrong with BitTorrent in general. I mean, this is how I’ve downloaded every Linux Distro for the past umpteen years. It isn’t an evil industry, it’s a helpful, convenient and very useful way to distribute content.

Millions of people visit The Pirate Bay each day, so having a way to promote to the masses seems like a much more lucrative method than iTunes or bandcamp. You can reach more people faster than ever, getting your name out. People will freely grab what you have to offer, and as the statistics show, pirates do spend more on music and film than others. The idea of this makes sense, and it is no surprise The Pirate Bay is here to jump on it.

The Promo Bay team is also considering the idea of adding a voting method for users to get popular content on The Pirate Bay’s homepage, replacing the pirate ship logo. This is a great way to get your name out there, whether it is film, music or whatever the case may be. A free advertising method to promote what you love doing. Check it out!!!
