(Before It's News)

In May 2011, Microsoft acquired a VoIP known as Skype. Now, there are speculations that it might actually replace Windows Live Messenger chat with Skype. Microsoft on its website confirmed that both Skype and the Messenger are coming together and that the millions of users of Messenger will be able to reach their friends on Skype. It also added that if they update to Skype, Messenger users will still be able to send instant messages and video calls to their friends but now on Skype.

Skype to Replace Windows Live Messenger

This change is expected to roll out early in 2013. However, mainland China will still have Windows Live Messenger. The company has promised to support users through the transition in form if useful information. They are also confident that once users have accurate information, they will be able to embrace Skype and get the best out of it. They also promised some special offers towards end of this year to the users as they prepare for the change.
