Everywhere you go, people gotta pee. That’s just a fact of our human existence. But instead of just getting flushed down the toilet, human urine could also be a feedstock for a truly unique renewable energy source.
Imagine being able generate six hours of electricity from a single liter of urine. Thanks to the innovative minds of four teenage girls in Africa, it’s no longer necessary to just imagine it – they’ve done it.
A urine-powered generator was presented at Maker Faire Africa in Lagos by Duro-Aina Adebola (age 14), Akindele Abiola (14), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14) and Bello Eniola (15), and according to the Maker Faire Africa blog, the system works like this:
Good going girls, although to say “invented” is a bit of a lie really, anyone in the nautical world will tell you that the ultimate life saver in an emergency is running your 12v battery or making a simple urine battery, the same can be done with sea water, plastic tubs, copper, galvanised steel, more tubs more volts, bigger the tubs more amps, simple stuff but really hope this spreads across not just Afric but the world. With LED’s light can be made accessable to so many places using scrap metal and either human waste or simple water from the beach, if only the Christians hadn’t swapped knowledge for Bibles across Africa and killed off their ability to live off the land and control their own numbers, they now wouldnt even need to know that you can run electricity from p**s. What a world we live in….. even that basic lifesave was kept hidden and now it’s proclaimed as a new invention. Guess it’s good it’s out, let’s see how far it travels….
