According to reports, Apple is working with Intel on a device that would fit onto your wrist like a watch.

The “smart watch,” as some media outlets refer to the rumored device, would hit the market in the first half of 2013, according to various media outlets.

A Chinese news agency reported a supply chain claims Apple is building the Bluetooth smart watches alongside Intel.

The product would feature a 1.5-inch display screen with OGS encore indium tin oxide transparent conductive (ITO) glass.

Coinciding with previous assumptions, the latest report says the smart watch device would interact with the iPhone and iPad devices, acting as a gateway device.

The news agency says the listing date of the first half of next year is due in part to the fact Apple could have an empty space for product launches during this moment in time in 2013. The Cupertino, California company launched both a new iPhone, iPad Mini and iPad device during the last half of 2012.

Apple’s rumored smart watch would be similar to those devices proposed by Google, and being produced by Sony. However, Sony’s “Smart Watch” is unable to use the watch to answer calls, which Apple’s device will reportedly, and expectedly, be capable of doing.

People could also assume the new Apple gadget would be able to interact with Siri, the company’s personal electronic assistant for the iPad and iPhone devices.

The new device would feature a touchscreen and could run a version of iOS, allowing apps to be easily downloaded for further interaction.

An independent company utilized crowd-funding website Kickstarter to help raise $10 million for the production of a smart watch known as Pebble. This watch, which is expected to go into production next year, is the “first watch built for the 21st century,” according to the Kickstarter page.

“It’s infinitely customizable, with beautiful downloadable watchfaces and useful internet-connected apps,” Pebble’s creators wrote on their crowd-funding webpage. “The watch will connect via Bluetooth, and alert users to incoming messages via vibrations – and apps bring Pebble to life.”

They said users would be able to utilize Pebble as a bike computer, accessing the GPS on their smartphone to display speed, distance and pace data.

“Runners get a similar set of data displayed on their wrist,” the creators wrote. “Use the music control app to play, pause or skip tracks on your phone with the touch of a button.”

Currently, full-details on the purported Apple smart watch devices are unknown, but what is known is the market for such a device is real, and the rumors could soon come to fruition.
