Major Weather Impacts Discussion for December 4, 2012:
Day 1-3: High pressure of the Mid-Atlantic Coast will bring one more nice day of weather to the region. The frontal boundary over the Great Lakes and Ohio River Valley extending down to the Gulf Coast will bring showers and thunderstorms to these regions today. High pressure over the Colorado Rockies will bring nice weather to the Plains and also the Southwestern US today. The frontal boundary pushing on shore over the Pacific Northwest will keep the region unsettled with heavy rain and mountain snows. The end of this period will have high pressure back over the East Coast and also another developing low coming out of the Rockies which will start to impact the Plains. The Northwest will still be dealing with onshore flow from frontal boundaries.
Day 4-7: The period will start with a frontal boundary pushing out of the Great Lakes and into the Northeast with showers and even some snow possible for places. The frontal boundary will extend back into the Gulf Coast region and Eastern Texas. High pressure will setup over the Northern Plains, while another low pressure develops over Colorado. High pressure will start to slow the weather pattern down along the West Coast finally for the time period. The end of the period will see the low pressure system move into the Gulf Coast region bringing showers and thunderstorms to the region the warm front will extend into the Northeast. A strong area of high pressure will build in over the Northern Plains and the Rockies clearing out the region. A cold front will push through the extreme Northern Part of Washington State.
Day 8-12: The period will start with the low pressure system in the Northeast just off the coast. We could be dealing with some heavy rains and even some moderate snows in the region. The frontal boundary will still extend all the way into the Southeast and Gulf Coast bringing more showers and thunderstorms to the region. High pressure will build in over Texas, while another weak frontal boundary pushes through the Northern Plains. High pressure will prevail over the West Coast. The middle of this period we will see high pressure over the Northeast along with a developing low pressure area in the Western Gulf of Mexico near Texas which will bring plenty of rain to the region again. High pressure will be in control of most of the Western US as a weak frontal boundary approaches the Pacific Northwest.
Day 13-15: The period will start with high pressure pushing off the East Coast, while a frontal boundary is making its way across the Midwest and Gulf Coast along with another frontal boundary moving through the Northern Plains and strong onshore flow over the Pacific Northwest again. The middle of the period will have another low pushing up the Eastern Seaboard bringing the chance of more showers and snow showers to the region. The end of the period will see another strong low pressure system moving into the Great Lakes region with the associated frontal boundary extending into the Gulf Coast region. A strong high pressure system will be in place over the Rockies while another strong low hits the Pacific Northwest.
