Our problem is NOT to find “the true tree of life” or “Higg’s particle”, but to understand THAT there isn’t any “true tree of life” or “Higg’s particle” to be found. Our problem is to understand WHY there isn’t any “true tree of life” or “Higg’s particle” to be found.
The reason for this fact can be painted in terms of the consistent synthesis of process and pattern in quantum mechanics. It gives us a rational answer of WHY there isn’t any “true tree of life” or “Higg’s particle” to be found. This answer is that single particles are indecisive (ie, Heisenberg’s uncertainty relation), and that “true trees” of single particles thereby are ambiguous, each thus being paradoxically contradictory (as also Bertrand Russell demonstrated).
The reason can, however, also be painted in terms of the simple fact that one process equals two patterns, ie, the process “A” from the pattern “x” to the pattern “y”, and that the number of processes thereby is one less than the number of patterns, making pattern and process incompatible.
Our problem is thus NOT to find a consistent reality, but that reality isn’t consistent. Cladists’ and Higg’s particle-ists’ vain attempts to find what isn’t to be found are pathetic, although well-paid.
