Don’t let the end of the world infect your computer! Sophos uncovered a powerpoint presentation spreading around the Internet about the Mayan calendar and the end of the world. This presentation has become infected with an executable file. Be safe and don’t search for it or watch it. (For the curious, here’s a safe link – Doomsday prediction).
The presentation was innocently posted by a minister on his blog. According to Chester Wisniewski at Sophos, “His legitimate WordPress blog has been compromised and is currently performing search engine manipulation duties for Viagra pushers, “off-shore” casinos, forex fraud and payday loans.”[1]
The big thing to remember with this little “end of the world” surprise is to use caution with unknown sources of content, and avoid enabling macros on downloaded documents and email attachments.
