Someone asked me why no diatom fossils are ever found on Mars. That question reminds me of another more obvious question: Why do we see only a few plant fossils but numerous mammalian fossils (note 1) on Mars? The answer is: God and a few others know the reason why and exactly how all life on Mars went extinct billions of years ago.
The no-diatom question also reminds me of NASA’s strategy of looking for past or present microbial life on Mars. That clever strategy avoids begging for the few-plant-fossils question when past “microbial” life is found. Clever before Martian mammalian fossils and …are beyond doubt to numerous people.
Note 1: See numerous Martian mammalian fossils in this photo album: http://www.wretch.cc/album/album.php?id=lin440315&book=20
