(Before It's News)

Kudos to Google for safeguarding families addicted to browsing. The procedure for image search has been changed by Google to block the accidental popping of porn material in the results.

Google filters Image Search

It has been emphasized by the company that censorship is not the motive. The aim is to let erotic images to flash only when specifically asked by the users. This entails the users to be very specific while searching for x-rated images. As per the company’s explanation the default setting remains the same while looking for porn content, your search terms have to be explicitly stated. Per se the settings for image search work similarly to those in Web search.

Hence it doesn’t matter even if the SafeSearch is on as the inclusion of the term ‘porn’ to the search string alone will pop up the required results. It has been reported that this is true theoretically as the required results are not obtained even if the SafeSearch is deactivated.

Though this may be relieving to the families with kids, some ‘pic-blocked’ porn seekers may have to face annoyance and irritation.

Have porn images popped up anytime during your search results? Do you think it right for Google to be the moral watchdog?
