HTC has announced that they do not plan to make their Windows Phone 8S available in the US market anytime soon. the 8S can be described as the little brother of their flagship device; Windows Phone 8X which is already on the market. There was a time when this raised an eyebrow or two but it seems to have died down after the 8X came into the market especially given that it is far more advanced than the 8S. But this does not mean that fans of the 8S who were looking forward to having it purchased in the US will be happy with the announcement.
However the announcement from HTC with regards to their intention does not eliminate the possibility of a carrier that decides that they want to include it in their network. The thing is that HTC wants to concentrate their efforts on pushing their flagship product, the Windows Phone 8X. The 8X is already available with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
It was reported that the Windows Phone 8S would have come stateside a while back but met with delays that came because of carrier testing. Another thing is that the device seems to be targeted at emerging and Pay-As-You-Go markets. It would have therefore been quite difficult for the handset to find a ready carrier in the US.
