Lenovo ThinkPad Twist gives SMBs another reason to switch to Windows 8
Imagine you’re showing a presentation to a client outside the office. You don’t have a projector with your so what do you usually do? It’s either you sit beside the client or face the laptop to him or her as you discuss things. Or how about just get the new Lenovo ThinkPad Twist, a business-class Ultrabook with a screen that you can twist into different modes.
The major appeal of the Lenovo ThinkPad Twist aside from carrying the ThinkPad DNA is its 12.5 HD touchscreen display that has a single hinge at the center which gives you versatility on a single laptop.
Aside from using it as your typical laptop, you can twist the display around so you can quickly show your screen to the person opposite you without having to move the whole thing.
Twist the display again and close the lid to use it as a tablet. A slightly bulky and a bit heavy tablet at 3.48 lbs.
Twist the display and turn the whole thing upside down to go into tent mode which you can use if you want to play with the touchscreen or if you just want to watch some videos.
Being a ThinkPad, the Lenovo ThinkPad Twist also has that magnesium-aluminum chassis for durability. The uni-directional hinge is made of metal so it’s not that easy to break and according to Lenovo can survive hundreds of thousands of twisting. It doesn’t have a roll-cage like the bulky and classic ThinkPads but the hard disk is equipped with an anti-shock system to protect your data from shocks.
The 12.5-inch HD screen is protected by Gorilla Glass and has a brightness of 250 nits. I also noticed the this laptop has an accelerometer so screen orientation follows however you hold it. It also supports 10-finger multi-touch.
This laptop has that comfortable and responsive keypad ThinkPad’s are known for and it even has a few Windows 8 hotkeys on the top row which at this moment is unique to the Twist.
Powering the ThinkPad Twist is a 3rd gen Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB RAM. It uses a hybrid storage system (500GB/16GB) for quick boot up and overall performance. It comes with a 720p HD camera, USB 3.0 ports, miniHDMI and mini-Display Port. What’s missing is a VGA port although a mini-Display to VGA cable is included in the package.
It has a Lithium Polymer battery that’s non user-replaceable which Lenovo claims can last you up to 7 hours.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Twist is already available for Php57,990 and comes with a one-year standard warranty. It’s a nice alternative if the sexy ThinkPad Carbon X1 is out of the budget.
