Apple’s refresh schedule for their various product lines is more or less pretty predictable – certainly more-so than competitors. That said, 2013 will once again feature refreshed laptops spanning all the way between their ultra-portable Macbook Air to their high-end MacBook Pro w/ Retina display.
Were you one that skipped the most recent refresh for the aforementioned laptops due to not enough of a change? The upcoming summer 2013 refresh doesn’t look like it’ll have much to woo you over with either (outside of minor internal spec bumps of course). According to DigiTimes, the refreshed Macbook Air and Macbook Pro laptops will be receiving spec bumps only, with the outward physical design being identical to current models.
DigiTimes also reports that leading up to the new models, Apple will begin discounting current hardware to make room for new inventory. But before you get too excited, let us remind you that Apple rarely (read: almost never) discounts outgoing models to make room for new ones.
Spec bumped Macbook Pros will be marginally faster than last years admittedly fast models. What will be really interesting to watch, though, is the Macbook Air. Intel has been making pretty large strides between model years with their integrated graphics and lower power processors employed by the Macbook Air, making the upcoming 2013 Macbook Air even more desirable in that regard.
