The sales figures of Nintendo 3DS has once again proved that the handheld market holds sway in Japan. All the world’s thrilling and exciting games are lined up on the Nintendo platform and the impact of this is seen through the rising sales figures.

Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo 3DS has surged way ahead in sales over the past two years surpassing those of competition. The sale figures for Sony’s PlayStation 3 on home ground was about 8,716,260 units since its launch in 2006 but with Nintendo 3DS’s sale figures of 211,499 over the last week it has easily crossed PS3’s entire lifetime sales with a whopping 8,799,378 units sold since its launch in February 2011.

Two years were sufficient for Nintendo 3DS to surpass PlayStation 3’s six years in the Japanese market.

The success of Nintendo 3DS has to be attributed in good measure to the various games such as Mario, Monster Hunter and Pokemon. The future games lined up for Nintendo 3DS only seem stronger with some good JRPGs coming along.

These games which were responsible for the astronomical sales figures of Nintendo 3DS will be available in the US in the beginning of next year. Some of the games expected to be seen are Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Etrian Odyssey 4.
