Review: CM4 Q Card Case For The iPhone 5

(Before It's News)

The iPhone 5 has been out for a couple months now, and you’ve heard us talk about many cases so far. We are still on the hunt for that perfect protective guardian, but we’ve seen some nice little attempts thus far. A style of case we don’t feature too often is the wallet style case. Something that will ease the load in your back pocket all while protecting that beloved iPhone.

So when we were given the chance to test out the Q Card Case from CM4, we jumped on the chance. To be honest, just looking at the pictures I thought this could be a good contender for cases. It didn’t look like it added a massive amount of bulk, and it also seemed to integrate the pocket for your cards and cash nicely. So after using the case for a week, and actually replacing my wallet for that time, I can finally give you the pros and cons as you search for that perfect wallet case…

The Q Card Case is actually a decent case and wallet. I have used a couple in the past, and either you gain a wallet but compromise the case, or vice versa. I was impressed at both aspects of this case. The case is made out of a soft-touch rubber that feels sturdy in your hand, but still comfortable to hold. It is somewhat of a bulkier case, but not so much that you’ll regret the purchase. I love how thin and light the iPhone 5 really is, so I find myself somewhat upset when throwing a large and bulky case on it, but in all honesty, the phone is sometimes too thin for every day life. I won’t ever settle for a larger case, but for different activities, I want something a little more substantial.

You get full protection of your iPhone with this case. It features covers for your volume buttons and sleep/wake button. The mute switch is set deep into the side of the case, but not so much that you have a huge amount of trouble toggling it. The case also wraps around the iPhone’s bezel giving you that Lay-flat Screen Guard protection. This part I found liking a lot, it wrapped enough so you can lay it down flat on the face of the phone, but not so much where it really restricted the usage of the screen. One of the best attempts at the Lay-flat Screen Guard I have seen. The bottom of the case offers perfect port access, it is even compatible with the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter. This really makes the Q Card Case a fully functional case. There is a nicely sized cut-out for your camera and flash.

Since it didn’t completely wrap around the phones edges, I did notice some peel-back at the top and bottom where the case was pulling away from the phone. Which didn’t make complete sense to me because the case fit so tightly around the phone, trying to stuff it in and take it off is somewhat of a feat, but nothing you won’t be able to manage. The more you stuffed in the stitched fabric rear, the more you’ll notice this. Until the fabric was fully stretched out, I was barely able to stuff one credit card into the case. After a couple of days, I found my credit card, ID and about 3 bills, folded twice, fit perfectly. It will add some heft to your step, but nothing that mirrors a Ballistic style case.

The Q Card Case ships with a CM4 microfiber cloth, as well as a one-year warranty. Priced at $39.99, and shipping in Black Onyx, Mahogany Brown, Pacific Green and Red Rouge, it’s actually a good buy. It might not be the sexiest wallet-style case out there, but it is actually been one of the nicer ones I have used. Easy, yet secure access to your cards, great protection in a comfortable case, are all reasons the Q Card Case is a good buy.
