T-Mobile has long been the distant 4th place “major” carrier. And since the iPhone’s launch in 2007, has continue to see customers leave each year as more and more people flock to both major and regional iPhone supporting carriers. On that same note, many iPhone users have come back to T-Mobile with unlocked iPhones. In most places, however, they are limited to pokey EDGE (read: 2.5 G) speeds that are equal to that of an old dial up modem. In recent years T-Mobile has re-farmed some of their spectrum around to get their HSPA+ network off of the 1700 MHz AWS band that no one else supports and onto something much more well accepted at the national level, though in just a few select markets – 1900 MHz. Though, in an attempt to slow down and stop the loss of customers for the iPhone on other carriers, T-Mobile has been much more aggressively re-farming spectrum over the last 10 months thanks to a $4 billion investment in their network. And today, T-Mobile finally announced the fruits of their labor by showing us what they’ve been working so feverishly on the last 10 months.

According to T-Mobile, in just 10 months since announcing their big network investment/planned upgrades, they’ve managed to get 100 million customers a better, faster, more resilient network. By T-Mobile’s own figures, an unlocked AT&T device can be brought to T-Mobile and signed up for service with a savings of up to $50/month over comparatively spec’d plans on AT&T as well as see data speeds that are up to 70% faster to boot.

If you’ve been holding out on moving back to T-Mobile because of the whole iPhone situation, now’s a good a time as any, especially if you live in any of the new 1900 MHz markets listed below.

It’ll be interesting to see how the iPhone’s typically data-hungry users affect T-Mobile’s network as more people gain access to HSPA+ speeds. For now, we’ll simply take submissions of speedtest screenshots. Get to it!
