If this new LB-S221X-SSD laptop from the Japan based computer maker Mouse Computer was just slightly thinner than its current 36 mm, it would qualify under the rules laid down by Intel to be called an ultrabook. But its way to thick for that and therefore what is lost in a name is a gain in specs and features for the consumer interested in getting their hands on a new laptop at a reasonable price.

The LB-S221X-SSD has a small 11.6 inch screen with a glare type LCD HD with LED back light display offering a 1366 × 768 of pixel resolutions and there is a useful built in 1.3 mega pixel web camera. This laptop is going to be running on the latest Windows 8 64 bit operating system and it is powered by the Intel Core i7-3632QM processor with a 2.20 GHz to 3.20 GHz with turbo boost, 6 MB support Smart Cache, HT and 4 cores.

There is support from the Intel HM77 Express chipset and the video graphics are coming from the capable Intel HD Graphics 4000 1664 MB video card. The memory on this laptop is 8 GB of PC3-12800 DDR3 SODIMM and there is a 240 GB Intel 520 Series Serial ATAIII solid state drive (SSD) available for storage purposes. Networking uses the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n wireless LAN, with a Bluetooth V4.0 + LE and the 1000 Base-T/100 Base-TX/10 BASE-T (RJ-45) wired LAN.

Other features include the Stereo Speaker system; D-Sub & HDMI display ports, two standard style USB 2.0 ports, one super-fast connecting USB 3.0 port and a handy Multi-Card Reader. As for the size of this laptop it measures up at 288 mm (W) x 195 mm (D) x 36 mm (H) and it weighs in at just 1.48 kilos and that is with the lithium-ion battery pack installed that Mouse Computer say should be good enough to last up to 6.4 hours.

Mouse Computer has competitively priced the LB-S221X-SSD to come in at under the $1,000 mark.
