(Before It's News)

The WAYN network, which is an online social travel networking website, has struck a deal with the India Today group. ITG has access to 100 million of India’s total population via different verticals and the name is a household matter as ITG has established its hold on the Indian market through magazines (India today, Business today, Men’s health and cosmopolitan among many others), the TV today networks, NEWS channels, radio and many more forms of print and TV media. The deal between the ITG group and WAYN is not a buy and sell of a to-be white label online product but a mutual collaboration for support and co-branded partnership.

WAYN, found in 2002 in London by Jérome Touze (Co-CEO), Peter Ward (Co-CEO) and Mike Lines (CTO), saw the rise in its members gradually. From 45,000 in 2005 to 21 million till recently, WAYN has been patient and dedicated to its travel segment operations. WAYN lets you keep in touch and share experiences and stories among many other things like setting up meetings with fellow WAYN members who are travelling to a particular city.

WAYN is hoping to reach out to Indian customers better by striking this deal as ITG’s audience and user base will be open to it. In return, ITG plans to gather access to WAYN’s 4 million strong Indian community of users. WAYN will set up a co-branded travel website with ITG’s travel arm called Travel Plus. This mutual collaboration might benefit both the parties as ITG has not officially ventured into the social travel networking vertical and WAYN could be its way to gather experience.

WAYN, originating from Europe, recognizes the Indian potential and rising awareness and internet literacy among the Indian folk. 137 million Indian internet users will be WAYN’s market in India. It is true that a large portion of this market already is loyal to some social networking website or the other like Twitter or Facebook but the exposure to a dedicated travel website would be a new one. WAYN also has features, which lets users look into the kinds of places to visit and what other people recommend as a good place.

If advertising and marketing is played right, WAYN can gather serious market hold in India as this is a relatively new internet community which is still emerging and has not set its allegiance to any particular service provider.
